Future Family Cruising - Which One Cruise Line to Choose?

Image
How do you choose the right cruise as a family?  There are many options out there, and although many have similar ports of call and cruise ship amenities, it comes down to the little things. We list out some of our thoughts around the 7 top cruise lines.  Cruises are a fantastic way for families to explore new destinations while enjoying a plethora of onboard activities.  The way children consume information and ideas is changing...think about it for a few.  Our children consume videos in short snippets, want bite sized information and lose interest quickly.  Cruising is growing in popularity with younger generations because hopping from place to place and getting a taste on many locations fits with their changing personalities.   Would be happy to hear your thoughts and in the next post, we will share our favorite cruise line, which isn't even on this list! 1.  DISNEY CRUISE LINE Pros: Themed Entertainment: Disney cruises are a dream come true for families, especially those with

World Cup - Day 18 - June 26th

After an overnight stay in Frankfurt, we hop on Lufthansa for the 10 hour flight to Dallas, then we go through 2 hours of customs, and then on to Austin on American Airlines. Finally, we make it home around 7:45pm and stay up late with the kiddos. In the next day or so, I will be sending out a summary of the trip with good and bad experiences with certain companies. Stay tuned. Would love to hear your comments, questions, etc.

World Cup - Day 17 - June 25th

We wake up to make our way to Cairo at 7:15am. We are picked up by Hany Halim, our guide, and taken straight to the pyramids. The site of the pyramids is awe inspiring, the only problem I have is that the city continues to creep closer to the site with apartments, restaurants, and warehouses....which is sad. We visit a papyrus store, cotton stores, a perfurme store, etc. After some shopping, sightseeing, we get back to the airport....much sweatier than I want to be. World Cup - Day 16 - June 24th

Today is the day we head home. Our flight from Cape Town is around noon arriving 2 hours later in Jo'Burg. We have a 7 hour wait and then an overnight flight to Cairo.

World Cup - Day 15 - June 23rd

Today is our relaxing day. We lounged around, did some window shopping, went back to the gem shop (for some gifts), and explored the towns around us. The main goal for today was to watch the USA vs Slovenia match and there was plenty of yelling and screaming, but in the end, the draw prevailed. We get ready by packing and having dinner at Kalkys.

World Cup - Day 14 - June 22nd

Today, we head to Stellenbosch. This area is considered to be one of the greatest vineyard and estate places in the world. We visit 4 wineries which provide various types of wine, cheeses, food, and chocolate. We have a great, relaxed day traveling all over and heading back for dinner. Not much to say except that it was one of the best days to see the Wine Country. Here is the link to the pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/aquadri26/WorldCupDay14#

World Cup - Day 13 - June 21st

We bought tickets a couple of days ago to visit Robben Island, the famed prison which held Nelson Mandela and many South African leaders during Apartheid. The morning was about exploring Fish Hoek, Simons Town (we end up going to one of the largest mineral/gemstone shops in the world), and of course Kalk Bay. We go to the V and A Waterfront to finish shopping, but it rains most of the way to Cape Town. Once we finish shopping, grab a small bite to eat, and make our way to the ferry, the rain seems to be subsiding. Robben Island is very foreboding...the history, the atrocities, and the sheer inhumanity can be felt any where you go on the island. The amazing thing about the place...the tour guides here are past inmates and the passion in their voice is clear as is their message. Hope lives and hatred can stop, but only if each of us is willing to love our neighbors as ourselves. A very unique end to our evening.
